Tm2t Accelerometer??

I have read that most new hard drives designed for laptops have accelerometers that are designed to sense when the hard drive is jarred or jolted around so that it can park the hard drive heads before they have a chance to whack the platter and do damage. I went looking for software that takes advantage of this new sensor that is available in my hardware in a more fun way. I can't find anything except for on linux. I am probably going to try linux on this new toy sometime but I was hoping that there would be some windows apps. I am looking forward to playing games on my laptop similar to those iPod touch games wher you simply tilt to steer a car and cool stuff like that.

  1. Dear Mr. Engel,

Did you ever find anything to use with your accelerometer? Our research lab just got a Touchsmart tm2t to use for studies with children, and I really wish it would auto-rotate based on the accelerometer, and the rotate-button was a lock (ala iPad).

I might try to code something up myself, but I'm not entirely certain where to get started for that kind of thing.

    Regards,
    William

  2. Never did find anything to use with the accelerometer. I have since replaced my HDD with SSD, which does not have an accelerometer since there is no need for shock protection on solid state
